How a eulogy usually goes

Most eulogies run three to five minutes. Read aloud at an unhurried pace, that’s about 400 to 650 words.

  1. Say who you are to them. One or two sentences.
  2. Tell people what they were like, through one or two true stories rather than a list of qualities.
  3. Share what you learned from them and what you’ll miss.
  4. Close simply. A thank you, a favorite saying of theirs, or a few words to them.

Print it in large type with wide spacing, and practice it aloud once or twice. Ask someone to stand by to read it if you can’t go on. That’s common, and nobody minds.
